our history

Metaltek is founded
1989

Metaltek was founded by Martin Znack and his father Gilles, with the goal of providing installation services to contractors throughout the Greater Montreal area. The company quickly stood out for its reliability on job sites and its ability to deliver practical, efficient solutions grounded in real-world construction.

A shift toward full-service
1992

After several years working as an installer, Martin began shifting the company toward a more direct approach with general contractors and developers. By combining the supply of specialized materials with turnkey service, Metaltek positioned itself as a reliable, efficient partner throughout every stage of a project.

First major collaboration
1993

Metaltek landed its first large-scale collaboration. A milestone that confirmed the team’s ability to deliver at scale while maintaining the agility of a hands-on operation.

Investing in heavy equipment
2002

As its presence on job sites across Quebec continued to grow, Metaltek acquired its first fleet of heavy equipment. This strategic move supported team growth, improved job site efficiency, and gave crews greater autonomy in the field.

A third generation joins
2010

A new chapter began with the arrival of Alex, Martin’s eldest son, officially marking the start of Metaltek’s third generation. With the same work ethic and a forward-thinking mindset, Alex helped strengthen the company’s expertise and prepare it for the next stage of growth.

Guillaume joins the team
2011

One year later, Martin’s younger son Guillaume joined the business. Together, the brothers brought renewed energy to Metaltek — blending modern vision, hands-on leadership, and a strong sense of family continuity.

Expanding the equipment fleet
2012

As demand continued to grow and timelines tightened, Metaltek expanded its fleet with state-of-the-art material handling equipment. This modernization helped accelerate job site productivity and improve control over project timelines.

Heavy transport division
2013

Building on that momentum, Metaltek also developed its own heavy transport fleet to handle logistics between the workshop, warehouse, and job sites. This shift toward operational independence increased responsiveness and ensured smoother execution — even on the most complex projects.

A move into project management
2015

After several years in the field, the Znack brothers began transitioning into the administrative side of the business. Drawing on their hands-on experience, they contributed to estimating and project management with a deep understanding of on-site realities.

The push toward automation
2018

Driven by a desire to innovate, Alex launched a long-term initiative to fully automate the company’s operations. Meanwhile, Guillaume continued as a project manager, overseeing execution across the province. Together, they represent Metaltek’s new generation: structured, responsive, and future-focused.

New office and workshop
2019

In response to growing demand and larger project scopes, Metaltek opened a new office and fabrication facility. This expansion allowed for faster support to field teams and increased production capacity to meet the needs of modern job sites.

Expanding building envelope services
2021

Already well established in insulation and waterproofing, Metaltek expanded its services to cover the full building envelope. This integrated approach reduced the number of subcontractors, simplified coordination, and improved control on complex, multi-phase projects.

Doors and windows added
2024

Metaltek later broadened its offering by supplying doors and windows. The goal: to simplify project management for general contractors and developers by centralizing yet another key component of the building envelope.

All-in-one field app
2025

As part of the company’s ongoing optimization, Alex launched the development of an all-in-one application to streamline day-to-day operations. The platform centralizes communication, training, and safety — helping ensure every site runs more clearly, smoothly, and efficiently.

our strengths

At Metaltek, we handle every stage of the process in-house — from design to installation, including transport, material handling, lifting, 3D scanning, fabrication, and even maintenance of our own equipment. This fully integrated approach allows us to better coordinate projects, meet deadlines, and reduce surprises on site. It’s this real, controlled, and consistent autonomy that sets us apart in the industry.
